Build, Extend & Connect Your Tradovate Workflow

From your trading rules to native indicators, connected automation, and the account access each one needs.

Nordman Algorithms develops custom software for traders using Tradovate: indicators that run inside the platform, and external software that connects through its API. We start with the result you need, then select the appropriate development approach.

A Tradovate programmer can implement your calculations in JavaScript, build a bot around a defined market-data source, or connect signals and existing systems to order execution. Account permissions and data availability determine which approach fits your project.

    Tradovate Development Services

Choose what you need to build. Bot development, signal copying, and trade copying each start from a different source of trading decisions.

    Tradovate Trading Bot Development

Build an external bot that calculates your entry and exit conditions, then manages orders through Tradovate API. The scope identifies a licensed data provider or an approved Tradovate data connection, along with position sizing, session rules, and recovery behaviour.

    Tradovate Indicator Development

Create JavaScript indicators for Tradovate charts with your calculations, levels, visual signals, and settings. Include custom drawing tools where needed. We define how the indicator should look and behave using your rules and reference charts.

    Tradovate Signal Copier Development

Connect TradingView alerts, Telegram, Discord, webhook messages, or API instructions to Tradovate execution. Your source supplies the trading signal; our software parses it, applies agreed filters, checks for duplicates, and manages the resulting orders through an authorised connection.

    Tradovate Trade Copier Development

Develop copying for workflows beyond the built-in Group Trading settings. Projects can link different authorised logins or connect MT5, NinjaTrader, and Tradovate, with symbol mapping, contract-size rules, partial-fill handling, and account reconciliation. Every source and destination connection is checked first.

    Tradovate API Integration

Connect Python analytics, C# services, risk systems, or reporting tools to Tradovate. Define how account information, order instructions, and execution updates move between systems. Market-data access is assessed separately from permissions to place orders or read account information.

    Tradovate Cross-Platform Conversion

Rebuild indicators or trading logic for a different platform, including TradingView, NinjaTrader, MT4, or MT5. Tradovate indicators use JavaScript; strategy conversion may require external API-based software. We compare the agreed calculations and behaviour against reference examples.

    Tradovate Prop Trading Automation

Funded and evaluation accounts run under rules your software has to respect, not just trade around. We build automation that tracks the firm’s limits as it works: daily-loss and drawdown monitoring with the account’s own calculation method, session cutoffs, contract and position caps, and behaviour on account-status changes such as a breach or a passed evaluation.

Because these accounts sit outside the standard API route, the connection your programme permits decides what can be automated — we scope around that, or assess a supported NinjaTrader route where it fits better. See account and access requirements for the details.

Have a Tradovate task that is not on this list?

Not every requirement fits a predefined category. Send a description, screenshots of what you have in mind, reference files, or existing source code — we will review it and tell you what is technically possible on Tradovate and what it would take.

    Account & access requirements

Account Access, Data & Prop Firm Rules

API projects begin with an account and data-access check. What your Tradovate account allows decides what can be built, so this is confirmed before scoping — the project then matches the access you actually have.

    01 / Account

    API eligibility

Standard API-key access requires a funded live Tradovate brokerage account with the API Access add-on. Prop and evaluation accounts are excluded from that route, so the account type and authorised connection are confirmed first.

    02 / Data

    Market data is separate

API access for orders and account information does not include market-data streaming. Tradovate documents separate CME sub-vendor and licensing requirements, so a project may need another licensed data source — established before calculations are agreed.

    03 / Prop accounts

Start with what the firm enables

Where your firm enables them, Tradovate offers Group Trading, account risk controls, and a TradingView connection — these may already cover part of your workflow. The firm’s rules and permitted connections decide what automation is possible on top.

    04 / Scope

    A workable project scope

Tell us your account provider, account type, instruments, and current signal or data source. For native indicators the review focuses on what is available inside Tradovate; for automation we identify a supported connection or assess NinjaTrader where it fits better.

Tradovate or NinjaTrader for Your Project?

We develop for both platforms and can assess which one fits the software you need.

    FAQ

    Tradovate Development Questions

Practical answers about custom software, account access, data, and execution.

We develop native JavaScript indicators and drawing tools, plus external bots, signal copiers, trade copiers, integrations, and custom trading tools. API-based projects start with a review of account eligibility and the data or signals the software will use.

The bot service on this page refers to external software connected through the Tradovate API. It calculates trading decisions using an agreed data source and manages orders through a permitted account connection. Native Tradovate indicator development is a separate service.

A bot calculates trading decisions from market data. A signal copier receives an existing instruction from TradingView, Telegram, Discord, or another system and translates it into execution. A trade copier follows activity in a source trading account. Each project defines its own filters, sizing, and order-management rules.

No. Access for placing orders or reading account information does not automatically include API market-data streaming. Tradovate documents separate CME sub-vendor and licensing requirements for that data access. We agree a suitable licensed data source before developing a bot that needs market calculations.

We first check the account provider, programme rules, and supported connections. Standard Tradovate API-key access excludes prop and evaluation accounts. A supported third-party connection or NinjaTrader workflow may be an option where permitted; the Tradovate login alone does not establish eligibility for custom API automation.

The trading connection and alert automation are different capabilities. Automated alert execution requires a supported signal receiver and execution connection. We can assess your TradingView alert format, account access, and the order actions needed before defining a custom signal copier.

A custom project can address requirements beyond the built-in settings, such as different authorised logins, cross-platform copying from MT5 or NinjaTrader, selective trade filters, and contract-size conversion. We check the native options and every required source and destination connection before proposing custom development.

Eligible Tradovate accounts can connect to NinjaTrader, where NinjaScript strategies run. Availability depends on the account and supported connection. Prop-firm platform or connection choices may be fixed at purchase, so compatibility is checked for your specific account before this approach is recommended.

Yes. Share the source files, trading rules, and example outputs. We assess the calculations, data needs, and platform features, then agree the changes or conversion scope. Converting strategy logic may mean building external software for Tradovate API execution.

We provide a fixed quote and schedule after reviewing access, requirements, existing code, and the testing scope. Delivery includes the agreed software, source files, installation guidance, and technical support. NDA and intellectual-property terms are agreed before work starts.
